Aredhel – the White Lady of the Noldor who was captured by the dark elf Eöl, more…

Finduilas – “Leaf-flow hair”, beautiful golden-haired daughter of Orodreth, King of Nargothrond of the House of Finarfin. She was betrothed to Gwindor the elf but she loved the mortal man Túrin, son of Húrin. She called him Thurin, “Secret”, because he disguised his true identity. Out of respect for his friend Gwindor, Túrin refused her love. During the sack of Nargothrond, Gwindor was slain and Finduilas was taken by Orcs. She called out to Túrin to rescue her but he was entranced by the dragon Glaurung and so did not hear her cries. She was killed by Orcs at the Crossings of Teiglin and her burial site was named Haudh-en-Elleth, the Mound of the Elf-maid. After Túrin realized what had happened, he wandered the woods calling out Finduilas! until he found her burial mound and grieved upon it.

Galadriel – Lady of Light and ruler of Lothlorien in Middle-earth. [see entry in Lord of the Rings]

Idril – Princess of Gondolin and married the mortal Tuor, more…

Míriel – “Sparkling Jewel”, the first wife of Finwë, mother of Fëanor, she died after Fëanor’s birth. Was called Serindë “the Broideress”, because of her skill in needlework and weaving. She and Finwë lived happily in the peaceful days of Valinor but after Fëanor was born, she became weak and could no longer bear children. She went to Irmo in Lórien to sleep and rest but she wanted to die. Since she was an Elf and therefore immortal, she chose to die and her spirit left her body and went to the Halls of Mandos.

Nerdanel – Called the Wise, daughter of Mahtan the great Noldorin smith, wife of Fëanor and had seven sons (Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod and Amras). She was patient and wanted to understand minds and so disagreed with Fëanor’s desire to master them. She had dark hair but her father and three of her sons had reddish hair – rare for Elves. Nerdanel refused to follow her husband to Middle-earth, and so lives in the Undying Lands.
